According to the exit polls Obama got 43% of the White vote. That’s not a majority but keep in mind that more White folks typically vote Republican than Democrat regardless of the race of the candidates so how does this number compare to previous elections?
So, what does all this mean? It looks like White voters vote more along party lines and ideology than color barriers. Thus, contrary to popular belief in the media racism has been over for a long time. It looks like White voters wouldn’t have made the difference in either an Obama victory or defeat. It was the non-white voters that turned the tide on this election. Fascinating.
