Pelosi’s Number 2

Awww, the naïve liberal left in Congress are just so darn cute. They're as dumb as a rock but as cute as a Koala. They actually elected Pelosi to be their house minority leader. She claims "…she knows how to lead Democrats out of the political wilderness". Since she's the one who led them into the "political wilderness" I hope she left some bread crumbs to find their way out.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20023123-503544.html

I agree with Heath Shuler, who ran against her, that they "…can't take back the majority without a change in leadership". In business, sports, military and most other endeavors in the world, when a leader takes your organization from a position of power down to a position of weakness those leaders are replaced. You don't stick with the ones who led you down the path to ruin. Again, here's the old saying, "when you find yourself in a hole; stop digging".

Shuler also highlighted the main reason the Democrats lost so many seats in the last election when he explained the problem with the house minority leader vote when he commented "it's very frustrating when I see everyone voting in bloc in light of the American people's desire for bipartisan solutions." The Democrats didn't listen to the American people and 60 of them lost their jobs (another 6 in the Senate lost their jobs too). The same thing will happen to the current Congress in 2012 too if they (both parties) continue to not listen to the American people.

We Now Have the Perfect Government

With a split Congress both parties will either have to work together or die. The people have voted for change for the third election cycle in a row (2006, 2008 and 2010). The American people have once again said "hey, you're not listening. We don't like how D.C. is doing things".

It's probably best that Harry Reid won too. This way he either gets to redeem himself or he'll be the lasting symbol of the Democrats 2010 failure which will trigger more change in 2012. Keep in mind; the Senators running for re-election in 2012 are from the Senate class of 2006 which is mostly Democrats following their sweeping victories. If things don't improve by 2012 another Voter Revolution may ensue leaving a heavy Republican majority in the Senate.

This will work out best for the American people if both parties embrace their unique opportunities:

  1. If the Republican House proposes fair legislation that the Democrat Senate can pass the Democrat President will have to sign it.
  2. If the Republican House keeps sending far-right agenda legislation at the Democrat Senate they won't pass it and the Democrats will have a reason to point fingers at the Republican in 2012 and retain the White House.
  3. If the Republican House sends fair legislation to the Democrat Senate and they don't pass it the Republicans will be able to point fingers at the Democrats and increase their chances of winning the White House in 2012
  4. If the Republican House proposes fair legislation that the Democrat Senate can pass but the Democrat President Vetoes it the Republican's can point fingers at the Democrats and increase their chances of winning the White House in 2012.

If scenario 1 above is followed the American people will be the winners and Obama will probably be a two-term President. That's the best case Scenario for all of us.

The good thing is that neither party can be the "Party of NO" and remain in power in 2012.

French Retirement Protest

Once again a Government takes the wrong path to a resolution.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11633178

Increasing the retirement age will increase unemployment as the older citizens affected by it will hang on to their jobs longer. Thus, there's an increase in unemployment as the younger citizens are entering the job market. The benefit is only a temporary blip for two years while taxes are collected and not paid out for two years. After that, they're back in the same boat again. Then, they'll be talking about increasing the retirement age again just like they are here in the U.S. It's only a short-term solution that only moves the problem into the future.

What they (and all Governments) need to do is eliminate the "nice to have's" they could afford during a booming economy but can't afford during a failing economy. That's similar to families cutting back on vacations, movies, and name brand foods when things get tough. When things get better they can enjoy the "nice to have's" again.

NPR Unjustly Fires Juan Williams

Seriously? They fired Juan Williams for this?

Link to CNN story

Who doesn't get a little nervous around people who are clearly different than everyone else around them and/or people they're use to? When I'm on my walks in the evening and there's a crowd of teenagers in the park I'm a lot more cautious and keep my eye on them. When I make a wrong turn and find myself in a neighborhood where I clearly don't fit in I get a little nervous…and they are watching me too by the way because I don't fit in there. When I'm on a plane and see a lady with a baby get on I get nervous that they're going to sit next to me. And yes, when I see people walking around in Muslim "garb" I keep an eye on them too. But I also keep an eye on tattooed biker-types dressed in leather and chains, grungy over-pierced teenagers, and anyone still wearing a "members only" jacket. This is natural and normal human behavior.

I take it that Juan Williams was too much of a centrist for NPR and not far left enough. I've always like him on Fox because he does lean to the left. He gives a truer perspective than the lefties and righties. They fired him for making a remark that millions have made. I've been on planes where I've heard the same thing as someone steps on in Muslim "garb". Fire him for something "real" if he's done something but this is ridiculous. It's funny how "liberals" really aren't that liberal. Liberals seem to be less tolerant than the far right conservatives they enjoy attacking.

Congo Barbaric Savagery

Why aren't the U.N. and the world sending troops to the Congo to stop this mess? Of all the places that need help why is this still going on?

http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/africa/10/19/congo.rapes/

This type of barbaric savagery is why many people in the past (as well as some today) felt it was OK to enslave the African people. The thinking was that the African people had been on the planet just as long, if not longer, than everyone else. Yet, they had not evolved to the same degree as everyone else. Thus, they would not evolve and it was OK to enslave them. I'm not condoning it, I'm just explaining some history of the warped thinking of the times.

This continued barbaric behavior in the Congo, Rwanda, Somali and other African nations does make you wonder though. Why have they still not progressed in a more civilized manner like most of the rest of the planet? Also, why is the rest of the planet allowing them to continue to behave this way? The planet has fought two World Wars to stop barbaric behavior. Countries have been invaded and taken over to stop barbaric behavior. Why is nothing being done about these African nations?

The U.N. should be doing something about this atrocity. The Congo has been at war continuously since 1996 (2 civil wars and 2 sub-conflicts). That'd be the Clinton, Bush and now Obama administrations. None have pushed the U.N. to stop it. In the last 14 years I'm sure the U.N. could've done something if they truly wanted to. But, these humans must not be worth enough to the rest of the planet. There's no oil and they're in no position to be buying Japanese video game consoles, German cars, French wine or U.S. electronics built in China. If they were good consumers with plenty of cash they'd probably be rescued by now. If they were an oppressed people with plenty of oil reserves they'd probably be rescued by now. But, darn the bad luck; they have no oil and no cash to be good "global economy" consumers. Thus, nobody, not even the U.N. is doing anything substantial enough to make a difference. Once again the U.N. is a worthless P.O.S.

Unofficial Founder of the Tea Party

No, this isn't a criticism so just follow along. Obama is the one who preached "Hope and Change". His message was one against the establishment and "business as usual" of the professional politicians in Washington D.C. The message hit a chord with many Americans and he won the election. In the subsequent two years that change hasn't been fully realized to the degree that many more Americans would like. Thus, to continue the promised change in Washington, the Tea Party emerged. Therefore, in an unintended way, Barack Obama is the unofficial founder of the Tea Party. The message of "Hope and Change" is still going strong against the career politicians in D.C.

Solar Panels on the White House

Yay! They never should've been taken down in the first place. At least they're going back up.

It is interesting that Clinton/Gore didn't put any up in their 8 years but "W" did and nobody mentioned it before now (at least this is the first I've heard about it anyway).

Obama’s Secret Strategy?

Obama is not helping the Democrats right now. He'd be more helpful just shutting up. He's touting the stuff that people are upset with. That is not going to help. That is just going to rile up the right. However, I wonder if maybe he wants to mix things up. Maybe he thinks if the Republicans take over they will help him be re-elected as they did for Clinton in 1994. Obama is more about winning than he is about doing. That has been his lifelong pattern. He knows how to win; he is just not sure what to do once he gets there.

That reminds me of what a boss of mine once told me. He compared projects and work in military terms. He said that some Generals are great at taking the city but are horrible at running it. That is why the Army has some Generals that "take cities" and others that "run cities". He said the best way to run a business is the same way. Some managers are great at running a project and getting it implemented and then move on to the next project (i.e. city). Other managers couldn't run a project successfully but could manage it to perfection after its implemented. Obama is the former; he is pretty darn good at taking the city but not so hot at governing it once he has it.

3-D: Lucas versus Cameron

Not being one to miss an opportunity to re-sell the same movie multiple times George Lucas is now going to re-release ALL of the Star Wars movies in 3-D starting in 2012.

In order for director James Cameron to keep up with George Lucas I've found a solution. Since Lucas is going to convert all six Star Wars movies to 3-D, Cameron can do one better. He can turn "Titanic" into a trilogy AND make them in 3-D. First, convert "Titanic" into a 3-D movie. Next, he needs a sequel. How about "Titanic 2: Escape from Atlantis"? The survivors find themselves in the undersea Utopia of Atlantis. Only, as they slowly find out, it's no Utopia. In order to keep their underground world from becoming like the aboveground world they have a gruesome form of population control.

And for the third installment of the Titanic Trilogy -> "Titanic 3-D: Battle for the Planet of the Apes". The surviving survivors return to the aboveground world only to be caught in the crossfire between the Apes that have taken over the planet and Avatars that have arrived to seek revenge on the Earthlings.

Well, there may have been some mixed marriages between the Apes and Avatars to complicate matters. However, this can lead right into the Avatar Trilogy (he will need six movies to keep up with Lucas anyway).

Leno Observation

I watched Jay Leno this week and something interesting happened. During Monday night's "headlines" segment he made a Tea Party joke. The crowd was silent. During Tuesday night's monologue he made another Tea Party joke. The crowd booed. He quickly quipped "looks like we have a lot of Tea Partiers here tonight" to cover it up and move on.

Since the crowd is different every night I found this interesting. During the Bush years the crowd generally enjoyed the Republican and Bush bashing. But, this week, they didn't seem to care for the Tea Party bashing. I wonder how much this reflects on the overall mood of the country right now. The election in 38 days may tell us the answer.

By the way, other than making fun of Delaware Senatorial candidate Christine O'Donnell he has made any Tea Party bashing jokes the rest of the week. Jay's a bright guy who understands and audience.

Dancing in the Streets

I heard that on the news that the recession ended.  I'm still waiting for the dancing in the streets to begin.

Did you see on the news this morning that the recession ended way back in June 2009? I'm sure all of those people who lost their houses, cars and TV's were happy to hear…oh wait, they may not have heard it yet.

It seriously took 15 months to calculate the end of the recession? Based on the speed of our Government the world will end 15 months before they finally notify us about it.

The way they calculate it is relative to the dip though. The end of the "recession" does not equate to recovery. Basically it just means the dipping stopped. Due to the lack of and/or delay of "recovery" that's why they're talking about a "double-dip" recession in our future. Yay!

Of course, telling the people way back then that the recession had ended would've gotten in the way of the "agenda" and stimulus programs they were trying to push through congress. Stuff like "cash for clunkers" and even healthcare reform may not have had broad mass appeal if people knew the recession ended and there was little need for them.

Mahmoud “Shecky” Ahmadinejad Performs Standup Routine

Following his raucous standup routine on Al-Jazeera's hit TV reality show "Middle East has Talent" Iranian President Mahmoud "Shecky" Ahmadinejad sat down with WJM reporter Mary Richards for a brief interview. Still giddy from his standup debut he joked "Shalom evil Zionist propaganda pusher".

In his well-rehearsed deadpan routine, reminiscent of American comedian Steven Wright, he claims Iranian women are the most free in the world, there are no Homosexuals in Iran and the Easter Bunny was invented by evil Jewish candy confectioners.

When asked what he does like about America he mentioned "…those happy self-esteem parades you have look like a lot of fun". When reporter Mary Richards pointed out that those are called "Gay Pride" parades he replied "whatever you Americans call it. It looks like fun. Rainbows make me happy and I look good in pink".

Following his trips to Syria, Algeria and New York to attend a high profile U.N. meeting aimed at reviving global disarmament talks he'll be back on the road with a one-man show at the Tehran Comedy Underground and an appearance on Al-Jazeera's popular game show "Are You Smarter than a Zionist Capitalist Pig?"

Obama adopting another failed Bush policy

I like Obama's newest adaptation of a failed Bush policy. Let's leave taxes alone for those of us making less than $250,000 and increase taxes on those making over $250,000. No, seriously, I really do like this plan.

http://www.tampabay.com/opinion/editorials/obama-has-right-idea-on-tax-cuts/1120797

By raising taxes on the rich we'll be bringing in an extra $700B. That'll come in handy since the CBO projects the 2011 shortfall to be $1.066 TRILLION. What? What was that? Oh, the $700B is over 10 years. So we're really only bringing in $70B a year. Hmmm, that's not going to balance the budget either. Oh well, at least it's a start. And, when Obama finds his missing scalpel he'll dig into that budget and cut spending soon I'm sure…just like he promised.

Clinton Condemns 1st Amendment

Well, not directly but essentially.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/09/08/florida.quran.burning/index.html?hpt=T2

Appeasement didn't work with the Nazi's and won't work with the militant muslim's either. Our first amendment must take precedent. Agree with their actions or not they have every right to burn the bloody Quaran. The Government, at the same time, cannot ask Americans to be tolerant of an islamic center near ground zero and also oppress Americans right to freedom of speech and expression.

Oh, so the muslims around the world will be angry with us. Aren't many of them already? Besides, I don't think burning a book puts our soldiers in danger. It was pretty much hijacking planes, flying them into buildings and killing 3,000 people that did that. Have we forgotten that part already? So, yes, I'm being childish and saying "they started it".

I think burning the Quaran is silly but they have every right to do it. Heck, Americans have burned Harry Potter and Dr. Seuss books too. It's almost an honor to have wacky American groups burn your book. If the afghan rebels get riled up they'll more likely surface and step into our soldiers' line of fire than hurt anyone.

By asking this wacky church to not burn a book our Government is backhandedly saying that we're better than muslims by implying that muslims are going to kill people over burning a book while Americans are only burning a book. The wacky Florida church isn't killing anyone. It's not like they're beheading reporters on live television or anything like that.

Mexico Laws Tougher Than Ours

Here's an even better idea: Instead of the Arizona law we copy the Mexico laws. There's are even stricter than the one Arizona just passed. Mexico's laws make Arizona look like a bunch of pansy's.

PM Brown and the Potential Bigot

They keep mentioning that Englands PM Gordon Brown had a conversation with this lady and his recorded conversation where he called her a “bigot” but they don’t share with us what SHE said in the conversation with him that made him think she’s a “bigot” in the first place. Maybe she is one. Maybe we’d all think so too. How about let us decide and give us the WHOLE story and not just the one that makes Brown look bad. Would it have been better if he said “hell yeah, I agree with her. We need to do something about all these f*ing immigrants. Kick all the Dutch out. And those Frenchies too”. Would that have been better?

Don’t short-change us. Show us both sides of the coin.

Michelle Obama Disbarred?

Did you know that Michelle Obama only practiced law for less than 5 years? She passed the bar in 1989 (2nd attempt) and stopped practicing in 1993. Did you also know that her inactive status as a lawyer was court ordered?

I got one of those emails that make the rounds with truths, half-truths, and falsehoods. I saw the picture they posted on a blog but it could’ve been altered. Thus, I went to the ARDC (Attorney Registration and Discipline Commission of Illinois) website myself and looked it up. Sure enough; it’s true. Her inactivity was court ordered. It doesn’t explain why but it does clearly state “…court ordered inactive status”. I wonder what she did for that to happen?

https://www.iardc.org/ldetail.asp?id=326158583

On the flip side; Barack’s record clearly states that he voluntarily retired from practicing law. Thus, she clearly didn’t voluntarily retire.

https://www.iardc.org/ldetail.asp?id=928352475

What? The transparent Obama's hide something? I am shocked!
